My name is Heather Hansley. I am a native of Johnston County. I currently live in Selma. This will be my first year as a teacher at Neuse Charter School, but I have been a parent at Neuse for three years. My daughter, Lola, will begin third grade this year. This year we also added a new addition to our family, a daughter, named Charley. I received a degree in Elementary Education and a K-12 Reading License, from East Carolina University. I also have two associates degrees. I have an associates in Business Administration and an Associates of Arts. I previously taught second grade at Cooper Elementary, in Clayton. Before becoming a teacher, I was a relationship banker with RBC Bank. After some soul searching, I decided to return to school in 2011 to obtain my teaching license. I have been happy with the decision I made. Teaching is truly my calling, and I find so much joy in watching my students learn and grow in all areas. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and going to the beach. I am so excited for the opportunity to be a teacher at Neuse and I look forward to a great year.
I have been living and working in Johnston County for 15 years. I have taught grades second through fifth and have been teaching for 23 years. My two daughters, Madeline and Emily, attend middle school here at Neuse. In my free time I love to read, ice skate, and take family trips to the beach. I am very excited to be part of the Neuse Charter School family!
I was born in Staten Island, NY, but was raised in Erwin, NC. I live in Four Oaks with my husband, John Cade, and my two children, Dalton and Tori.
Prior to receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Western Governors University, Utah in 2013, I owned and operated a home day care/pre-school for 14 years. I, then Ms. Parrish, joined the Neuse Charter School 5th grade team as a math teacher in 2013. I moved to the 3rd grade team as a science and social studies teacher at the start of the 2013/2014 school year. This will be my 4th year as a member of the 3rd grade team. I am excited to be teaching math and science and look forward to another school year working with the exceptional staff and students of Neuse Charter School.
